Peltigera sp., a large foliose soil lichen; west end of Beaver Brook Trail. This brownish species has cyanobacteria as primary photobionts, hence the color remains dull even when wet. The abundance of upturned lobes show whitish-tan undersurface of thallus and bear apothecia under the lobe edges; one is visible at lower right. Note veins on underside, characteristic of this genus.
